Patrick Horain received an Engineer Degree in Physics and Energetics and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG), France, respectively in 1982 and 1984. He prepared his Ph.D. dissertation at Laboratoire d'Electronique de Technologies et d'Instrumentation (Léti). In 1986, he joined TELECOM ParisTech (former ENST) as an Assistant and then as an Associate Professor. In 1995, he joined TELECOM SudParis (former Telecom INT). He is now with the Electronics and Physics department (EPH) in the Multimedia interactions group (Intermedia). He has research interests in 3D computer vision for multimedia applications (including motion capture for interacting in virtual world and sign language recognition), educational software for picture processing (multimedia courseware) and software architecture. He was in charge of the thematic operation Vision for virtual reality (OT 5.4) within the CNRS research network on Information, Signal, Images & viSion (ISIS) and the French Virtual Reality Group (GT-RV). In 2004, he organized the workshop "Acquisition du geste humain par vision artificielle et applications". In 2008, he was a visiting scientist at INRIA / MIRAGES.
His teaching activities include the creation and coordination of courses units at TELECOM SudParis. |
